About

What’s in the name?

Train Like a Monk is built on a simple idea: performance and joy don’t have to be opposites. Athletes thrive when training is structured, evidence‑based, and purposeful, but also when it respects the human side of sport. The purpose of the ‘Train Like a Monk’ resources are to help cyclists and endurance athletes unlock their best results, avoid the fads and misinformation that now flood social media, and above all else – enjoy riding their bike.

The Coach

I’m Cyrus, the coach behind Train Like a Monk. With over 20 years of racing experience — from junior ranks all the way to the World Tour — I’ve lived the highs and lows of competitive cycling. A national road race title, a last place finish in Paris-Roubaix and an ever-growing book of stories from the road. Along the way, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and continue to stay immersed in the latest sport‑science research.

I’ve coached athletes chasing everything from their first race finish to World Championships and Olympics. What drives me is seeing riders grow in confidence, consistency, and performance while still enjoying the ride.

My Philosophy

  • Evidence‑based training: grounded in physiology, not guesswork

  • Holistic approach: balancing performance with health, motivation, and lifestyle

  • Individual focus: every athlete’s path is unique — your plan should be too

  • Long‑term growth: building sustainable progress, not quick fixes

Why Train Like a Monk?

Because training isn’t just about watts and intervals. It’s about clarity, discipline, and balance — the same principles monks live by. This brand is a reminder that the best results come when you align mind, body, and purpose.
